Is shared or dedicated web hosting better for an ecommerce business?
Question: want to know the difference, which is better for my business
Answer: Based on your business hosting question, here is our suggestion. If you are looking for a business hosting or even the best domain host, your best option is to go with Hostgator. Well, they are not totally free – you have to pay $0.01 (by entering the coupon code below at checkout). This coupon code is usable for any shared hosting and even the $24.95 Aluminum reseller hosting. We suggest you do not waste your time with any other unreliable business hosting.
If you are not only looking for a business hosting, but also a good cheap hosting, we suggest you try MyHosting. It is hard to find any negative MyHosting review so we believe they are the best because they give unlimited bandwidth, unlimited storage, unlimited addon domains, Site builder and much more for such a low monthly price. You can get MyHosting for only $4.84/month.

I started my ecommerce website on shared hosting and it has worked fine.
You just need to realize that you are sharing it with other websites as well, so there is potential that they could slow down the whole server, therefore impacting on your site’s performance and also their sites could get hacked which could potentially spill over to your site too……. it’s highly unlikely that it is possible.
Dedicated hosting is expensive and can be overkill at first.
What you could do is ask your hosting company whether they can do a Virtualized Server instead with the potential of moving to a dedicated should your site get really busy and is using a lot of server load. Virtual servers are a lot cheaper and they can seperate it from other shared websites so it’s the best of both worlds.
However, if expense is an issue at first if you’re just starting out, put it on a shared hosting account and ask them how easy it to to move it to a virtual or dedicated at a later stage. I’m sure they would be happy to do it for you for FREE as they cost more than a shared hosting environment so it will benefit them more in the long run to move you to virtual or dedicated server.
Hope that helps.
Shared would be, dedicated hosting would be over kill.
For shared hosting I would recommend: http://hosterbox.com/
They are really cheap and they offer the best features and pricing.
I agree that dedicated is overkill. You can always upgrade.
Go with shared and save some cash.

The difference between "shared" and "dedicated" is that when you are on a shared server, you are literally sharing that server with other businesses who are hosting their sites on the same computer. When you are on a "dedicated" server, then your site(s) are the only one(s) hosted on that computer.
If you have any kind of revenue coming in from your site and are making any kind of a profit, then my opinion is that a dedicated server is better. The reason for this opinion, is that people are very quick to hit the back arrow when they get to a website that is taking too long to load or navigate. Often on a shared server, you could be sharing the computer with 300-500 other websites.
To me, the $150 difference between a $50 shared account and a $200 dedicated server should be viewed this way: If you are just starting out and are just experimenting with your store and don’t yet have an effective marketing plan, it would be a shame for you to rack up overhead such that before you figure out how to start "making the engine chug", you throw in the towel because you’re losing too much money and you shut everything down.
However, let’s say that the start up costs are not an issue for you, or that your site is producing revenue. Depending on what your exact gross sales are, you can see how you could easily lose more than $150 per month just because the site is too slow. I would want to remove that possibility from existence by having a dedicated server.
i prefer shared hosting is best
here i suggest one site which is reliable in web hosting services http://www.thewebpole.com/ make use of it
Let’s see. Would you book an entire flight for a single person? No, if you are yet another common man, yes if that single person is the President.
Similarly, if your business website is a big one, and you fear that other users would make your website slow and make you lose essential business, then you can probably consider dedicated hosting. But otherwise, if you have a small e-commerce site visited by a handful of people every day, then you’d do ok with a shared hosting.
Dedicated hosting costs around $150/month whereas you’d get very good shared hosting for $8-$15/month.
So this is what you could do if you are newly starting out. Choose a host that offers both shared as well as higher hosting like semi-dedicated and dedicated hosting. Start off with shared hosting, put your time and money where it is important right now: to market your website and gain customers, when you see lot of people coming to your website and your business growing, you can consider spending more for your hosting, that too if it warrants it.
Before going over to dedicated, you can have a stop at semi-dedicated for sometime. It is truly the best of both worlds – gives you the comfort of shared hosting and the extra resources of dedicated hosting. For some reliable hosts head over to: http://umakeawebsite.com/reliable-hosting/
I hope that helped.
While many small ecommerce sites can be hosted on a shared server, most if not all of the big websites are hosted on a dedicated web server or many dedicated servers clustered together.
If your requirement is for a dedicated web hosting, I’d suggest you to check for the best deal on the review section of Webhostingbreak. Here’s a list of dedicated web hosting: http://www.webhostingbreak.com/list/dedicated-hosting/ I just hope that you find the web hosting deal you are looking for.
